(July 26, 2012) When I was psychotic, typically an episode would continue until some climatic event occurred.
Once this happened, I would start going in and out of psychosis and tend to relax. I would no longer be as wired and wound up as I had been, sometimes for months on end. When not overwrought about being in jail or some such, I would be extremely sleepy, not having slept much for considerable time. Once I had to tell my visiting wife that I was sorry but I just had to sleep - knowing full well that she had driven 130 miles with our two small boys to see me.
James Holmes (the accused in the Colorado theater killings) in his court appearance this week appeared to be extremely sleepy. This is exactly what I would expect at this point in time if he were indeed suffering from paranoid schizophrenia as I did.
I am fully aware that we lack sufficient information to draw firm conclusions, but I thought I would share this observation.
